Kirtan has its roots in India’s yogic traditions and can be considered yogic chanting. A call-and-response chanting or musical conversation that has many benefits, like soothing the nervous system.
Kat Rose has been leading a weekly kirtan for nearly a decade, first in New Mexico and now here in Bend. She has found the practice of musical mantra repetition to be one of the most effective ways for people from varying backgrounds to slow down their brainwaves and banish their mental chatter. By activating the vagus nerve it helps one to connect with their Essence and to sit still in a peaceful and calm meditative state. She has witnessed, over and over again, the power, coherence and harmony that is created by a community of individuals joining their voices, hearts and minds in unison.
Kat has devoted her adult life to the exploration and synthesis of the inner purification arts and sciences and now serves as a guide to others on the path of self-actualization. Her mission is to support the growing edge of humanity to achieve a higher octave of homeostasis through biochemical detox, subtle body re-patterning and kundalini activation.
Kat is joined by her long time music partner, virtuoso violinist Julie Southwell, who is a well loved and widely known fixture in Central Oregon’s musical community.
